Torcolo Food Festival *** CANCELED
March 8th

Fontignano, Perugia

As every year, the second Sunday of Lent, comes the celebration of the Torcolo. In the past this celebration was used to celebrate someone's engagement. The Torcolo of Fontignano (a variety of the Torcolo of San Costanzo) is the symbol of the ring that was given as present to the fiancée. It represented the richness and the comfort of the fiance's family. The fiance, during the celebration, walked around the town with the Torcolo in his hands to say that he was engaged.

During the celebration of the Torcolo, the single people were taunted founding on their doors a straw torcolo.
