The Sagra Musicale Umbra (Musical Umbrian Festival) was founded in 1937 and is the oldest festival in Umbria and one of the oldest and most prestigious music festivals in Europe.
The Sagra Musicale Umbra has distinguished itself over the years for its researched musical programming aimed mainly at the vast repertoire of the sacred, declined in its most different forms, and the enhancement of the masterpieces of architecture and art of the Umbria region, steeped in spirituality and of history.
The Sagra Musicale Umbra, which takes place in some important Umbrian centers in the month of September, over the years has assumed an important international value not only for the prestige of its programme, but also for the rediscovery and exploitation of masterpieces of the past and for having baptized important works of the greatest living authors.
