One of the most famous olive oil towns of Umbria, Spello celebrates its 'liquid gold' with the Festa dell’olivo e della Bruschetta every year in early winter. Each edition transforms this medieval hilltown gem into a showplace of art and photography exhibits, open markets, traditional Umbrian song and dance performances, olive-oil tasting events and more! 

The heart of 'Gold of Spello' will be in the central Piazza della Repubblica, from which other events will spread out through the most suggestive locations in the historical city centre. The city streets will be filled with stalls offering bruschetta and extra-virgin olive oil, while the stage in the square will be hosting a constant program of shows, accompanied by musicians travelling the streets of Spello. During the event the city's three taverne (inns) will be open, and restaurants will be offering special menus dedicated to olive oil.
Anyway the main attraction are always the floats. Every float is carried by the oxen or by an ancient tractor and got in the center the 'frasca' which is a real olive tree decorated with salami, sausages, fruits and biscuits to symbolize prosperity and abundance and around the 'frasca' the children and adults wearing traditional costumes sing, play and dance the ancient 'saltarello'.
