Costume challenge between the Wards
After two very long years, the palio della brocca finally returns
To this Palio will partecipate three Wards: Piazza, Valle and Borgo. These Wards have as point of reference a door of the town: the “Piazza” has the San Michele door, the “Valle” has the del Cerro door and the “Borgo” has the Romana door. These three Wards indicate the ancient division of the territory of Deruta.
The idea of this Palio arise after the reading of an historical memory of Giuseppe Bianconi where he said that the citizens of Deruta needed water and for this reason a fountain “Fontana di Piazza dei Consoli”) was built. The water was also also important for the ceramic because, as you already know, Deruta is one of the most known ceramic town of the world!
