Pampepato

Panpepato (literally 'Peppery bread') is a typical Umbrian dessert, also common in other Italian central regions, prepared above all during Christmas time. It is not very sweet but very spiced really energetic because of nuts, almonds and hazelnuts. It has to be divided in small cakes and, once baked, cutted in small slices.

Ingredients:
- 100 gr of nuts
- 100 gr of hazelnuts
- 100 gr of almonds
- 100 gr of sultanas
- 100 gr of mixed candied
- 200 gr of honey
- 100 gr of dark chocolate
- 180 gr of flour
- 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
- cinnamon to taste

* The quantity of spices is indicative, it depends on your taste. Be careful with the pepper, add little by little till you obtain the right "tickling level".

Procedure:
Chop nuts, hazelnuts and almonds and put them in a large bowl. Add candied peel, sultanas, spices and mix well. In a pan, warm chocolate and in another one warm honey and then pour them over other ingredients and stir well.
Add flour little by little mixing very well till a firm dough, and form some small cakes on a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 180 C degrees for 15 minutes.
