Assisi - Tili Vini

The Tili grape farm is located on the hillsides to the east of Assisi, a land rich in peace and saints, but also renowned for its centuries-old vocation for wine-making and olive oil production. The clayey, medium-mixture soil is not rich in organic material but contains many rocks and mineral salts which are excellent elements for cultivating grapes and olives.The vines are rooted in an arid soil which, because of its permeability, does not hold rain water and therefore enriches the grapes with specific saline components. In addition, the geographic and climatic characteristics of the area assure that the vines are particularly healthy. Consequently the vineyards are treated with only very few specific chemical compounds; the treatment is carried out with the assistance of a meteorological station that constantly monitors the vineyards and olive groves. The 15 hectares of vineyards belonging to the farm include the best grape varietals, carefully selected and cultivated using palmet or fan pruning for maximum sun exposure all day long.The use of special techniques such as short pruning, the training of vines with the traditional materials that respect the ecosystem, spring thinning, grassing interspersed with specific plowing, organic farming methods without using pesticides and herbicides, demonstrate the love and respect for nature of this family-owned company.
